Japanese Garden Design

Japanese gardens are an escape into a hidden realm of beauty, symmetry, and calm. Designing a Japanese garden that meets your needs and embodies your personality is a wonderful adventure.

Five Seasons has been designing, installing and maintaining Japanese gardens in the Washington DC/Baltimore metro area for over 25 years. We specialize in rock and meditation gardens, but have experience with all types including hill-and-pond style, tea gardens, courtyard gardens and full-scale stroll gardens.

David Silverman is a specialist in Japanese-style gardens, architecture and interior design. Silverman and his family live in a Japanese-style home that he designed and built.

In the design phase, you decide whether to take a traditional or more contemporary approach. Whether you are starting from bare ground, changing an existing garden, or adding a partial garden, site plans and designs are crucial to a quality job. Five Seasons has the credentials and the know-how to help your ideas take shape and evolve a plan that exactly meets your needs.

One of the most valuable services we provide is artistic pruning. Using the proper pruning techniques, we first shape, then train, and maintain your shrubs and trees to correspond to the scale and style of your Japanese garden.

We can also create Zen gardens, which are great for small properties.

We have been using the services of Five Seasons Landscaping for many years now and all we can say is, “he’s fantastic!” David Silverman’s designs, along with the timely and skillful implementation, have yielded a visual treat every time we walk out of our home. The dry streambed he added to our backyard has done nothing less than transform the ordinary into the spectacular. Sitting on the deck is a real “trip” for the senses.
